Tenuta Franzona, a place steeped in passion and history
Back in 1964, Aldo Carati, a man with a brave heart, decided to purchase this precious estate together with three others in the suggestive area of Dozza, Castel Guelfo and Castel Bolognese, embracing the lands that embrace Emilia and Romagna.
From that moment on, Aldo Carati availed himself of the precious help of his nephew Gilberto Lanzoni, a wise soul steeped in wisdom in the agri-food sector, as he had spent his entire life linked to the fruit trade.
And so, with the enthusiasm and determination that characterized them, they began to write a new chapter in the history of Tenuta Franzona.
The transformation from a simple agricultural company to a fascinating winery took shape towards the end of the 60s, when Gilberto Lanzoni, supported by his uncle Aldo, built a modern winery for winemaking. The aim was to fully exploit the 19 hectares of land surrounding that magical place.
It was a bold gamble, but the rewards were extraordinary. The winemaking business and the sale of bulk wine proved to be an overwhelming success. As time passed, the investment in the winery grew steadily, with the purchase of new stainless steel barrels and the adoption of increasingly modern machinery.
Winemaking was the beating heart of the Estate, so much so that it was decided to uproot the apricot and peach trees to make room for new, splendid vineyards.
But the history of Tenuta Franzona does not stop here. In 2005, with the sad passing of Gilberto Lanzoni, the property passed into the hands of his wife Tina and their son Massimiliano. For a period, the management was entrusted to people outside the family, but in 2014, the family decided to return to govern the estate with strength and passion, personally reaping the fruits of their labor.
The baton then passed to his nephew Alessandro, an enterprising young man who, with audacity and respect for tradition, led Tenuta Franzona to new heights of success. His youthful energy and constant dedication gave a further push to growth, while always keeping the roots firmly anchored in tradition.
Tenuta Franzona, through the generations, continues to preserve the legacy of passion, love for the land and dedication that has made this estate a special place.
